Julie has been covering her life through blogs since 2001 — May 22nd of that year, to be exact. In the latest iteration, Julie writes passionately about issues that touch her life daily. Personal reflections include thoughts on being twentysomething, dating and relationships, and life in DC. An accomplished marketing professional with more than six years of industry experience, Julie also provides insight into developments in her industry, social media, and iPhone technology.

Julie was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to the United States with her mother shortly before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. She spent her formative years in Lexington, Massachusetts, where she was an active member of the community through her involvement with the local chapter of a national youth group, a Girl Scout troop, and an assortment of school-sponsored extracurricular activities.
Julie attended the University of Maryland where she earned Bachelors degrees in both International Business and Marketing as well as a minor in French Studies. She was involved with a number of student groups on campus where she sought out leadership roles. Most notably, she was an influential member of a national Panhellenic sorority, serving as her chapter’s Vice President in addition to a variety of other positions.
In what she believes may have been the experience that shaped her the most during her college career, Julie spent a semester abroad in Paris where she attended the International Students Division of Université de Paris IV – La Sorbonne and was fortunate enough to travel throughout Europe during program breaks and after its end.
In her current role as Social Media Strategist at Amplify Public Affairs in Washington, DC, Julie blends her traditional marketing background and deep understanding of Web 2.0 technologies to develop effective, results-driven integrated marketing campaigns. Julie helps clients successfully create and leverage their social networking presence to increase reach and improve constituent relationships and is responsible for producing performance reports to identify areas of potential growth as well as possible solutions to improve future results. Additionally, Julie serves as a facilitator of the Disruptive Women in Health Care blog and community, the “Driving the Adoption of Health IT Through Innovations in Social Media” event series, and Advocacy Avenue, Amplify’s social media resource center.
Prior to Amplify, Julie served as Marketing Coordinator for Boston-based Imprivata, Inc., a recognized leader in Authentication and Access Management. There, she created partner news briefs and customer bulletins, sent to over 1,700 partner and 1,800 customer contacts worldwide, directed bi-monthly webinar lead generation campaigns, oversaw the marketing programs budget for six international cost centers and planned bi-annual internal sales meetings and annual partner conferences.
Before Imprivata, Julie provided Marketing services to L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems , TradeStone Software, Inc., and Optiant, Inc.. Several promotional materials Julie created during her time at Optiant, which can be seen here and here, won Honors in the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) 2004 Spotlight Awards.
